Kenneth G. Bown, MBA, CFP®, CPWA®
Ken is a Partner of the firm, specializing in retirement planning and investment asset allocation. In addition to his wealth management duties, Ken also provides our advisors with guidance on portfolio construction. Ken received a B.A. in Management Information Systems from Utah State University and his MBA in Finance from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. Ken is a Certified Financial Planner™ professional.
Craig M. Porter Rollins, RFC®Craig M. Porter Rollins is a Partner of the firm. He specializes in helping clients and business owners with properly liquidating and repositioning highly appreciated assets (such as real estate, business assets, etc…) through the use of tax efficient methods. Craig is a two time former member of the Board of Directors for the Alternative & Direct Investment Securities Association (ADISA). He received the 2013 Distinquished Service Award from ADISA. From 2009 to 2011 he served as the advisor to the investment committee aiding in the creation and asset selection for the Ladenburg Thalmann Alternative Strategies Fund, a proprietary mutual fund, ticker symbol (LTAFS). Craig serves on the Due Diligence Committee at DFPG Investments, Inc. helping to identify and approve new investment opportunities. He is a member of the Board for the Utah Chapter of Entrepreneurs Organization. He also serves as Chairman of the Board for Utah Valley University's (UVU) Personal Financial Planning Program and is a proud recipient of the 2015 Excellence of Leadership Award from the Woodbury School of Business at UVU.
Timothy K. Whipple, CFP®, CPWA®, EA, CAP
Tim is a Founding Partner of the firm. He is a specialist in portfolio tax efficiency, including wealth transfer, estate and current income tax reductions. His expertise in tax-related issues has led Tim to his passion in assisting LJCooper Wealth Advisor clients in establishing and managing philanthropic foundations. Tim received his bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University. Tim is a Certified Financial Planner professional and an Enrolled Agent licensed to practice before the IRS. He currently serves on the boards of International Aid Serving Kids (IASK) and the Cougar Rugby Foundation.
Adam N. Taylor, CFP®
Adam was a founding partner of the firm, and has been an investment services professional for over 15 years. He is a specialist in both retirement planning and retirement income planning, as well as investment asset allocation. He has also educated hundreds of seminar attendees on these topics. Adam enjoys and is dedicated to building long-term relationships with his clients and providing them with objective investment advice and planning recommendations. Adam attended Utah Valley University, where he played baseball before attending BYU. Adam is a Certified Financial Planner professional (CFP®), and Investment Advisor Representative with LJCooper Wealth Advisors. Adam enjoys the outdoors, and sports with his two sons Jackson and Dawson. He and Julie, his wife of over 22 years, live in Pleasant Grove Utah with their two sons.
Jim Spainhower, ChFC®
Jim is an Investment Advisor Representative with LJCooper Wealth Advisors, LLC. He believes that education and knowledge are the keys to making good financial decisions. Jim uses the education process to pass his knowledge onto thousands of clients and students, while teaching in college/university-continuing education, corporate and individual settings. He believes that proper asset allocation is crucial, and is committed to providing portfolios, asset and income plans that fit the needs and risk tolerance of his clients.He is a 14-year professional in the financial services industry with over 25 years of business management experience. Jim is experienced in agency management and in structuring lifetime income and asset plans for both retirees and impaired individuals.
Jim is a member of the Alternative & Direct Investment Securities Association (ADISA).
Rob Strasburg, CFP®, EA
Rob is an Investment Advisor Representative with LJCooper Wealth advisors, LLC. He has been a financial services professional for 13 years. He has educated hundreds of seminar attendees at workshops across Utah and Colorado. Rob is dedicated to building long-term relationships with his clients and providing them with objective investment advice. He specializes in retirement and estate planning with a focus on utilizing proper asset allocation.
Rob is a certified Financial Planner professional and an Enrolled Agent (EA), licensed to practice before the IRS. Rob and his wife, Ali, have 3 sons and live in Genola, Utah.
Jason L. McMullin, EA
Jason has 13 years of industry experience, the last eight of which have been as an Investment Advisor Representative and tax planner with LJCooper Wealth Advisors, LLC. After receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Utah State University, Jason immediately went to work in the financial services industry. Education is key when it comes to investing and retirement planning, which has led Jason to become a member of the Society of Financial Awareness (SOFA) which is a non-profit speaker’s bureau that conducts educational workshops in the workplace to help eradicate the financial illiteracy plaguing the country. Jason has also served as President of the BNI Prosper chapter, serving over 75 local business owners and professionals. Jason is an Enrolled Agent, licensed to practice before the IRS. When not working in the investment world, you will likely find Jason spending time with his wife, Heather and their 4 boys, enjoying a mountain bike ride, or training for the Xterra mountain race.
William (Bill) D. Bass, CPA, CFP®
Bill is the office manager at our Panama City, Florida branch office, as well as a founding partner of the W.D. Bass & Company, Certified Public Accountants. He specializes in individual and business tax planning strategies and business, financial and estate planning. He is considered a valuation expert, having served as an expert witness for various circuit and appellate court districts throughout the State of Florida. Bill has served in a variety of financial administration capacities in his local Rotary Club, First United Methodist Church and St. Andrew Baptist Church. He is actively involved in the Bay County Florida Community. Bill received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida. He is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in Florida and a Certified Financial Planner professional. He has also received the Certified Valuation Analyst designation.
Greg Caldwell, CFP®
Greg is a Wealth Advisor at LJCooper Wealth Advisors, LLC. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Personal Financial Planning from the Woodbury School of Business at Utah Valley University. He assists clients with their financial planning needs and skillfully answers their questions. Greg has a background in business management and insurance. He has a passion for helping people achieve their financial and personal goals. When Greg is not working, you can find him with his family on his dirt bike, or working in the yard.
Sam Deaver, CFP®
Sam is a Wealth Advisor at LJCooper Wealth Advisors, LLC. He graduated in Personal Financial Planning with a Bachelor of Science from the Woodbury School of Business at Utah Valley University (A CFP® Board-Registered Program). He is currently preparing to sit for the CFP Examination this coming year. Sam Joined LJCooper Wealth Advisors in Dec of 2011. As an associate advisor, Sam enjoys connecting with clients and assisting with any needs in pursing their goals. Sam is a member of the Financial Planning association (FPA). He has a passion for helping people achieve their financial and personal goals. When Sam in not working, you can find him with his wife Katie, working around the house or spending time in the mountains with their two dogs, Bailey & Hank.
Alex Haviland, CFP®
Alex joined LJCooper in 2013. His previous four years working as an account manager for an international Fortune 500 Company, helping individuals develop strategic business models to grow their personal businesses, were key in building his expertise in financial planning. Alex studied business management at Brigham Young University and is a proud graduate of the Personal Financial Planning program at Utah Valley University (A CFP® Board Registered Program). Along with being a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), he volunteers at local high schools, teaching students about personal finance and investments. Currently serving as a Wealth Advisor at LJCooper, Alex enjoys creating client financial plans and heads the marketing committee for the firm. In his spare time, Alex enjoys hunting and fishing, cooking, reading, and spending time with his wife Becca and son Ryker.
Alex has been with LJCooper Wealth Advisors since 2013 and is an Associate Advisor with the firm. He graduated from Utah Valley University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Personal Financial Planning. He works with clients to help them with financial planning goals and decisions. Alex believes that education and the understanding of financial principles allows for the best financial decisions. When Alex is not working you can find him on a golf course, playing basketball, or spending time with his wife Dani and daughter Macee.
Lauren Loucks, CFP®
Lauren, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, began working for LJCooper in February 2014. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Utah Valley University, with a Bachelor of Science in Personal Financial Planning. Her awards and honors include the Dean’s Choice WolverineAchievement Award for the Woodbury School of Business in 2015, the TD Ameritrade RIA NextGen Scholarship in 2014, Outstanding Student Award for the Personal Financial Planning program in 2016, and acceptance into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Her expertise on intern experiences and best practices has landed her panelist roles at national financial planning conferences. She served as the Financial Planning Association (FPA) Ambassador for Utah Valley University and maintains her FPA membership. Lauren has an ardor for lifelong learning. This, coupled with a passion for serving others, illustrates why we find Lauren to be well-suited for the wealth management profession. Her volunteer activities include guest-lecturing local high school students in the personal finance discipline and speaking via webcast on how best to transition from student to working professional. When not at work, you will often find Lauren with her two young boys snowboarding, bike riding, practicing yoga, or dancing.
Aaron graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah. While in school his areas of emphasis were Investments and Real Estate. Upon graduation, he spent several years as a commercial real estate analyst and, later, as a small business risk analyst. He holds the Series 7, 63, and 66 securities licenses. He has been a licensed Real Estate Appraiser and a volunteer Portuguese translator at Utah Valley University. As the proud father of a special needs son, Aaron has a keen and particular interest in Special Needs and Estate Planning. He believes that outside of health, money is the biggest worry and concern for families, that’s why he strives to help people in their journey for financial peace of mind. He is a regular volunteer at local high schools teaching students about personal finance and responsible money management. Outside of work, Aaron enjoys skiing and snowboarding, hiking, and traveling… with his wife and two children of course!
Annie Johnson EA, Tax Services Manager
Annie is the Tax Services Manager at LJCooper Tax Strategies, LLC. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the Woodbury School of Business at Utah Valley University, Magna Cum Laude. Annie has 16 years of tax experience. She is an Enrolled Agent, licensed to practice before the IRS, and assists with tax preparation, and filing. When not working, Annie loves to hike, read, and play racquetball.
Trina Vidolin, EA, Tax Advisor
Trina has spent the last 8 ½ years working as a Revenue Agent for the Internal Revenue Service. She worked with Small Business/ Self-Employed division and has a vast amount of knowledge and experience with IRS procedures and regulations gained through the examination of a wide variety of tax returns. Knowing how to correctly interpret the tax code is something that Trina excels in. Trina graduated Magna Cum Lade with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Trina is an Enrolled Agent and is licensed to practice before the IRS. In her spare time, Trina enjoys spending time with her husband and two children and traveling.
Shelly Hall, BookKeeping Manager
Shelly oversees all BookKeeping for the firm. Her expertise has also enabled her to perform account management and book keeping for many of our clients. Her 15 years of industry experience has proven invaluable in her task of overseeing accurate financial transactions and statement compilation for LJCooper Tax Strategies. In her spare time, Shelly enjoys watching Netflix and doing genealogical work.
Scott Carlson Operations Manager
Scott is the operations manager at LJCooper. In addition to his administrative responsibilities at the firm, Scott plays an important role with investment analysis, portfolio construction, and implementing financial planning recommendations. Scott graduated with Bachelor of Science in Personal Financial Planning from the Woodbury School of Business at Utah Valley University. Scott gets excited about technology (especially when it comes to Apple), loves playing ultimate Frisbee with his wife and runs ridiculous distances just for fun. Scott currently lives in Provo, Utah with his wife Kelsey.
Cindy Nelson Client Services Manager
Cindy specializes in providing prompt service to all clients’ needs. She focuses on building long-term relationships with our clients based on trust, open communication and integrity. Cindy has previously worked in the mortgage and insurance industries for over 25 years and brings a vast amount of customer service experience to her position. When not at the office she enjoys reading, photography, movies, and music.
Rosemary Jarman, Office Assistant
Rosemary provides our clients and advisors with valuable support services and has completed customer service courses from Dale Carnegie and the Disney Institute. Her time at Brigham Young University, along with her growing number of years in the industry make her a valuable asset to the LJCooper team. She is an accomplished writer, travel enthusiast, and a former indoor skydiver. She considers herself fortunate to spend her free time making memories with her five children.
Maralee Page, Client Services Manager
Maralee is a Client Services Manager here at LJCooper Wealth Advisors and began working for the firm in September of 2014. Maralee’s focus is coordinating the details of managing client data, processing paperwork for clients, and scheduling appointments. She is dedicated to helping clients receive timely and effective answers to their questions. She takes great pride in helping others and providing superior service to every client. She also assists with marketing for the firm. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Personal Financial Planning from the Woodbury School of Business at Utah Valley University. In her spare time, Maralee enjoys traveling with her husband and spending time outdoors.
Derek is a student-intern at LJCooper. He is currently studying at Utah Valley University in the Personal Financial Planning program. When not at school, or at work, you can find Derek playing basketball, water-skiing, or spending time with his wife Kayci.
